Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

According to its self-reported version number, the remote Juniper Junos device is affected by a denial of service vulnerability due to a flaw in the IGMPv3 implementation. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this, via a specially crafted IGMPv3 packet, to affect service availability on a portion of a multicast network. Note that IGMPv2 is not affected by this vulnerability.

Solution

Apply the relevant Junos software release referenced in Juniper advisory JSA10714.
