Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing a security update for glibc.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 5 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the RHSA-2012:0397 advisory.

- glibc: FORTIFY_SOURCE format string protection bypass via nargs integer overflow (CVE-2012-0864)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL glibc package based on the guidance in RHSA-2012:0397.
