Atlassian JIRA 7.2.x < 7.2.4 XSS

medium Nessus Network Monitor Plugin ID 9919

Synopsis

The remote web server hosts an application that is vulnerable to a Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attack vector.

Description

The version of JIRA installed on the remote host is earlier than 7.2.4 and is affected by a stored XSS attack. This flaw exists because the '/secure/admin/IncomingMailServers.jspa' script does not validate input to the Whitelisted Domain field before returning it to users. This may allow an authenticated remote attacker to create a specially crafted request that would execute arbitrary script code in a user's browser session within the trust relationship between their browser and the server.

Solution

Update to JIRA version 7.2.4 or later.
