Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

According to its self-reported version, the Cisco IOS XR software running on the remote device is affected by a local privilege escalation vulnerability in the command-line interface (CLI) due to incorrect permissions being given to a certain set of users. A local attacker who has valid administrative credentials can exploit this issue, by sending specially crafted input, to execute commands on the underlying operating system.

Solution

Upgrade to the relevant fixed version referenced in Cisco bug ID CSCva38349.
