Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 14.04 LTS host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-2824-1 advisory.

- The key_gc_unused_keys function in security/keys/gc.c in the Linux kernel through 4.2.6 allows local users to cause a denial of service (OOPS) via crafted keyctl commands. (CVE-2015-7872)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected kernel package.
