Virtuozzo 7 : readykernel-patch (VZA-2017-058)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 101172

Synopsis

The remote Virtuozzo host is missing a security update.

Description

According to the version of the vzkernel package and the readykernel-patch installed, the Virtuozzo installation on the remote host is affected by the following vulnerabilities :

- A vulnerability was found in the implementation of vxlan interfaces in the Linux kernel. A privileged user inside a container was able to trigger a use-after-free in vxlan_dellink() function with a special sequence of operations with vxlan interfaces, which could result in a system crash or could possibly have other unspecified impact.

- A vulnerability was found in the signal handling in the Linux kernel. A local unprivileged user could cause a kernel crash (general protection fault) in the cleanup_timers() function by using the rt_tgsigqueueinfo() system call with a specially crafted set of arguments.

Note that Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Virtuozzo security advisory.
Tenable has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible without introducing additional issues.

Solution

Update the readykernel patch.
